Variant

Step-by-step in Forge MES
- Create a Project for a meaningful programme, product programme, or managed manufacturing scope.
- Create Product Families inside Projects to group closely related Products.
- Assign Products to the appropriate Product Family during Product setup.
- Use consistent naming so Work Orders and reports can inherit a useful hierarchy.
Rules to remember
- A Product Family requires a Project.
- Forge MES can create a Product without a Product Family, but the hierarchy improves organisation and reporting.
- Use Variants for versions of the same Product, not for unrelated Products.
Configure for the client
- Match product taxonomy, item codes, BOM governance, units of measure, revision control, and serial or lot tracking policies to the client's master-data standards.
- Validate the configured behaviour with approved test data in the target environment before production use.
Ready when
- Projects have a clear purpose.
- Product Families group genuinely related Products.
- The hierarchy will remain understandable as more Products are added.
