How the workflow connects
This journey connects the following stages. Complete the required checks at each stage before moving forward.
- 01Required
Define component
Create a Component for every material or part that must be planned, scanned, consumed, or traced.
Provides the controlled input for the next stage. - 02Required
Required identity
Enter the required name, code, and unit; names and codes require at least two characters.
Provides the controlled input for the next stage. - 03Required
Choose tracking mode
Choose one mutually exclusive mode: Serialized, Consumable, or Fixed Serial.
Provides the controlled input for the next stage. - 04Required
Fixed Serial value
For Fixed Serial, enter the permanent barcode or QR value.
Provides the controlled input for the next stage. - 05Required
Stock thresholds
Set maximum stock above minimum stock and keep the reorder level between them.
Provides the controlled input for the next stage. - 06Required
Add inventory
Load or receive inventory before the Component is needed for production.
Step-by-step in Forge MES
- Create a Component for every material or part that must be planned, scanned, consumed, or traced.
- Enter the required name, code, and unit; names and codes require at least two characters.
- Choose one mutually exclusive mode: Serialized, Consumable, or Fixed Serial.
- For Fixed Serial, enter the permanent barcode or QR value.
- Set maximum stock above minimum stock and keep the reorder level between them.
- Load or receive inventory before the Component is needed for production.
Rules to remember
- Unit and tracking settings cannot be changed after creation.
- BOMs reference Component records, so Components must exist first.
- Serialised Components require a valid individual identifier during consumption.
- Quantity-based Components are validated against the required BOM quantity.
Configure for the client
- Match product taxonomy, item codes, BOM governance, units of measure, revision control, and serial or lot tracking policies to the client's master-data standards.
- Validate the configured behaviour with approved test data in the target environment before production use.
Ready when
- Every BOM material has a Component record.
- Tracking type matches the physical identification method.
- Units of measure and quantities are consistent.
