Create Product
Create the Product with a unique name and SKU.

Why this connection matters: A Product without Variants requires a shared BOM.
Step-by-step in Forge
Navigation: Manufacturing → Production → Products
- Open Products: Open Production and select Products.
- Start a product: Select Create Product.
- Enter basic information: Complete Name, unique SKU/Code, Product Family, and the required unit or category fields.
- Add Variants: Add each meaningful configuration and complete the identifying values for every Variant.
- Configure production: Add the shared or Variant BOM entries and a serial-number template when required.
- Create the product: Review validation messages and select Create Product.

Rules to remember
- A Product without Variants requires a shared BOM.
- A Product with Variants needs a shared BOM or a BOM for every Variant.
- If Variants are used, a Work Order must select the required Variant.
- The serial number template is optional, but unit serial generation before release is not.

- Product name and SKU are unique.
- Variant use is deliberate and consistent.
- Every Product configuration has BOM coverage.
