Open the Product's BOM Version and review its status and items.

Active BOM

Why this connection matters: Only reviewed draft or approved versions should be released.
Step-by-step in Forge
Navigation: Manufacturing → Production → Products → Product detail → BOM Versions
- Open BOM Versions: Open the Product and select BOM Versions.
- Choose the draft: Open the version that production should use.
- Review the items: Confirm at least one Component exists and every Variant has valid BOM coverage.
- Activate the version: Select Activate, Approve, or the available release action and confirm the dialog.
- Verify the result: Confirm the status shows Active before creating or activating a Routing.

Rules to remember
- Only reviewed draft or approved versions should be released.
- An empty BOM cannot be released as a meaningful production definition.
- Routing must use an active BOM from the same Product.

- The correct BOM Version is active.
- The active BOM belongs to the intended Product.
- Material inventory exists or has a replenishment plan.
