How the workflow connects
This journey connects the following stages. Complete the required checks at each stage before moving forward.
- 01Required
Open Line detail
Open Process & Engineering → Line, search by name or code, open the Line detail, and select Edit.
Provides the controlled input for the next stage. - 02Required
Edit throughput
Optionally set Capacity Per Hour and Capacity Per Shift; when both are supplied, the shift value must be greater than the hourly value.
Provides the controlled input for the next stage. - 03Required
Limit task queue
Optionally set Task Queue Capacity to the maximum pending and active tasks allowed on the Line.
Provides the controlled input for the next stage. - 04Required
Set Starting Line
Turn on Is Starting Line only when the Line may receive the initial task during capacity planning.

Step-by-step in Forge MES
- Open Process & Engineering → Line, search by name or code, open the Line detail, and select Edit.
- Optionally set Capacity Per Hour and Capacity Per Shift; when both are supplied, the shift value must be greater than the hourly value.
- Optionally set Task Queue Capacity to the maximum pending and active tasks allowed on the Line.
- Turn on Is Starting Line only when the Line may receive the initial task during capacity planning.
- Select Save and verify the status, Site, capacity values, and assigned Products on the Line detail.
Rules to remember
- Only Lines marked as Starting Lines can receive the initial task during capacity planning.
- The UI identifies the manufacturing phase order as SMT → BLT → ASSEMBLY → TESTING → PACKING.
- Capacity Per Shift must be greater than Capacity Per Hour when both optional values are supplied.
- Task Queue Capacity is optional; when supplied, it must be a whole number within the range accepted by the deployed Forge MES version.
Configure for the client
- Match Routings, Operations, Station eligibility, Line assignments, work instructions, validation rules, and identifier formats to the client's approved manufacturing process.
- Validate the configured behaviour with approved test data in the target environment before production use.
Ready when
- Starting-Line status reflects the real first manufacturing phase.
- Hourly, shift, and queue capacity values are valid and realistic.
- The Line detail shows the intended Site, status, capacities, and assigned Products.
