How it works
Follow the arrows from left to right. Each stage prepares the information the next stage needs.

Open Product
Open the Product and locate its assigned Lines.

Assign at least one active or occupied Line that can physically build the Product.

Assign additional eligible Lines only when capacity balancing or multiple lanes are intended.

Confirm the appropriate initial Line is marked as a Starting Line.
Why this connection matters: Work Order creation is blocked when the Product has no active Line assignment.
Step-by-step in Forge
Navigation: Manufacturing → Production → Products → Product detail → Lines
- Open the Product: Open Production → Products, search for the Product, and select it.
- Find Line assignments: Open the Lines, Assigned Lines, or production assignment section.
- Add a Line: Select Assign Line or Add Line, then choose an active Line that can build the Product.
- Add alternatives carefully: Select additional Lines only when the same Product may start or run on them.
- Save and verify: Save the assignment and confirm at least one eligible Line has Is Starting Line enabled.

Rules to remember
- Work Order creation is blocked when the Product has no active Line assignment.
- The current assignment flow allows one active Product assignment per Line.
- Removing an assignment can be blocked while active Production Tasks use that Line.

- Assigned Lines match the physical process.
- At least one assigned initial Line is a Starting Line.
