Step-by-step in Forge
Navigation: Manufacturing → Production → Work Orders → Work Order detail
- Open the Work Order: Search the Work Orders list and select the draft Work Order.
- Open the start journey: Select Start, Prepare, or the available production-start action.
- Generate serials: Open Serial Numbers and select Generate using the configured Product template or supported method.
- Review the batch: Check every generated value, remove invalid duplicates, and select Confirm.
- Match the quantity: Verify the confirmed serial count exactly equals the final Work Order quantity.

Rules to remember
- No normal Work Order can start without a serial number batch.
- The batch must be confirmed.
- Serial count must exactly equal Work Order quantity.
- A serial number batch groups unit serials; it does not replace unit-level identities.
