How the workflow connects
This journey connects the following stages. Complete the required checks at each stage before moving forward.
- 01Recommended
Factory records
Plant: the manufacturing context that owns and isolates operational data.
Provides the controlled input for the next stage. - 02Recommended
Product records
Site: a physical location within the Plant.
Provides the controlled input for the next stage. - 03Recommended
Process records
Line: a production lane that receives unit-level tasks.
Provides the controlled input for the next stage. - 04Recommended
Execution records
Station: a work point used by a Routing operation.
Provides the controlled input for the next stage. - 05Recommended
Quality and trace records
BOM: the Components and quantities required for a Product.
Step-by-step in Forge MES
- Plant: the manufacturing context that owns and isolates operational data.
- Site: a physical location within the Plant.
- Line: a production lane that receives unit-level tasks.
- Station: a work point used by a Routing operation.
- BOM: the Components and quantities required for a Product.
- Routing: the connected sequence of operations a unit follows.
- Work Order: the executable instruction to produce a Product quantity.
- Production Task: one finished unit moving through production.
- Genealogy: the relationship between finished units, consumed material, packaging, and shipment.
Rules to remember
- Use Product for finished output and Component for input material.
- Use Production Order for grouping and Work Order for execution.
- Use Repair for fixing a failed unit and Rework for repeating controlled manufacturing operations.
Configure for the client
- Use the reference as a baseline, then document the client's enabled capabilities, responsible roles, approval matrix, terminology, integrations, and environment-specific decisions.
- Validate the configured behaviour with approved test data in the target environment before production use.
Ready when
- Local factory terms are mapped to the Forge MES term.
- Users can distinguish similarly named records.
