Impact in numbers
Getting a garment from a trend spotted on social media to a hanger in a store. This process involves many steps: design, costing, sourcing, production, quality checks, packing, shipping and finally, a shopper picking it up.
At Reliance’s scale, this chain includes hundreds of thousands of style choices and thousands of vendors every year, and it used to rely on tools that didn’t connect. Fynd built Cortex, an AI-first platform, to link every stage into one system
Planning teams used one system, buying and costing used another, vendors and production a third and store operations something different. Catalog photography and customer service were handled separately as well.
Changes in trend forecasts, vendor delays or costing decisions didn’t pass automatically to the next stage. Someone had to manually move that information between tools.
For Reliance, this involved over 100,000 style decisions and more than 1,000 vendors each year, so every manual handoff added delays in an already long process.
Cortex is Fynd’s AI-first platform for fashion and lifestyle, made up of connected sub-platforms, each handling a part of the Plan-Buy-Make-Sell chain. Instead of separate tools, Cortex acts like one system where planning decisions flow directly into buying, vendor management or store operations without manual steps.
The platform is already handling full-scale operations in design, purchasing, vendor management and delivery - not just a small pilot.
The Vendor Management Platform has significantly reduced the time from placing a purchase order to shipping the goods.
AI Photoshoot automatically creates on-model catalog images, cutting both the time and cost compared to traditional photoshoots.
A single garment’s journey through Cortex includes:
A trend is spotted - signals from celebrities, regions or marketplaces feed into the trend-forecasting platform, and planning dashboards turn this into a category-level plan.
A design is costed and developed, tracked from design through tech pack, sourcing and production, with automated costing based on vendor bids.
Fabric is ordered and managed through a unified fabric-ordering platform and a master data system that is the single trusted source for all vendors, materials and products.
Production runs through a connected vendor-management system covering procurement, manufacturing, quality control and packing.
Invoices, purchase orders and goods-receipt notes are reconciled automatically, with issues flagged instead of manually handled.
In stores, teams manage tasks and track KPIs using a store-ops platform, a companion app helps shoppers find products and AI-generated photos supply the online catalog.
In a single fiscal year, Cortex designed over 100,000 style options, processed more than 1.1 million purchase orders with over 1,300 active vendors, and delivered over 150 million pieces.
The Vendor Management Platform reduced the time from purchase order to shipping from 55 days to 30, nearly cutting that part of the process in half and getting garments to shelves faster.
AI Photoshoot achieves an 88% first-pass success rate on catalog images, meaning most photos don’t need to be retaken.
