Most stores plan big system changes carefully, in stages, and often on the quietest weekdays of the year. Cottonworld chose a different path.
In just one night, over 30 stores and 2 warehouses stopped using four older systems and switched entirely to Fynd. There was no phased rollout, no parallel billing. By the next morning, every store was billing seamlessly and the online business was running on the same platform.
This is the story of how that bold cutover happened, what transitioned with it, and how daily operations look now.
Cottonworld started in 1987 with a small collection of cotton shirts and a vision that natural fabrics deserved a bigger place in everyday wardrobes.
Almost four decades later, it remains a family-led fashion brand trusted by generations across India. Their clothing - made from cotton, linen and bamboo is designed for comfort, durability, and frequent wear. Today, Cottonworld operates 30+ stores and an online store on Shopify, with a loyalty program, Cottonworld Circle, that keeps customers coming back.
For a brand known for comfort and lasting value, shopping needs to feel just as effortless as their clothes.
Fynd POS helps in manage billing, returns, gift vouchers and orders for items not available on the shelf. For Cottonworld, it was just the beginning of a bigger vision: uniting the entire retail business on one connected platform.
Handles POS billing, Endless Aisle (ordering products not in-store for delivery), in-store order management and returns for legacy orders.
One order system for both stores and online.
Inventory management for a dedicated e-commerce warehouse and an offline warehouse that manages stock transfers between stores.
Aggregates delivery partners for online and Endless Aisle orders.
The first loyalty platform integrated behind Engage, allowing customers to earn and redeem points across stores and online.
An AI-powered tool that converts Cottonworld’s catalog from its old format to Fynd templates with a single click, deployed on Boltic Serverless.
After nearly 40 years of growth, Cottonworld’s operations were spread across four separate systems:
Ginesys for retail operations
Unicommerce for orders
Easyrewardz for loyalty
A direct delivery partner integration for shipping
Each tool did its job, but the trouble was in the gaps between them.
Stores, warehouses, online business, and loyalty each held separate versions of inventory, orders and customer data. Keeping all in sync was a constant effort and adding stores or channels only increased complexity.
Critical live data included customer records, stock across 30+ stores and 2 warehouses, hundreds of open credit notes, gift vouchers and discount vouchers. Each store also needed its cash opening balance correctly set on the Day 1.
A phased move would mean billing in two systems and reconciling later - creating room for errors across 30+ stores.
Customers shop across channels, but the systems didn’t. Loyalty points, orders and stock couldn’t flow freely between stores and the website.
So the team made a bold decision: switch everything at once.
Fynd moved Cottonworld to a single connected stack in one big-bang cutover, with no phased rollout and no parallel billing.
In one night, every store and both warehouses switched from the old systems to Fynd. The Shopify online business moved to Fynd OMS too, with Shopify staying on as the storefront.
Store teams now bill, handle returns, place Endless Aisle orders and issue or redeem gift vouchers on one platform. Return flows even cover orders from the old systems, so customers with previous purchases aren’t left behind.
On cutover night, POS went live in every store for billing, Endless Aisle, in-store orders and gift vouchers. The team also set up return flows for orders placed under the old systems, so customers coming back with an older purchase were not turned away.
Fynd order management system replaced the earlier order system for both stores and online, so one system now manages every order.
The team set up a dedicated e-commerce warehouse for online orders, and an offline warehouse for stock moving between stores.
Fynd Logistics took over from the direct Bluedart integration, bringing delivery partners together for online and Endless Aisle orders.
Cottonworld’s loyalty program moved to Nector, integrated through Fynd Engage. It is the first loyalty platform integrated behind Engage.
Catalog Transformer converted Cottonworld’s catalog from its earlier format to Fynd templates in a single click, so the team did not have to rework product data by hand.
Everything the business depended on moved over intact.
Many migrations run old and new systems side by side. This one did not.
Step | What happened |
|---|---|
Before | Four systems: Ginesys, Unicommerce, Easyrewardz and a direct delivery integration |
Cutover night | 30+ stores and 2 warehouses switched to Fynd together. No parallel billing |
Next morning | Stores opened and billed on POS. The Shopify online business ran on Fynd OMS |
Area | Before | After with Fynd |
|---|---|---|
Systems | 4 separate legacy systems | 1 unified Fynd stack |
Store billing | Handled on the legacy retail system | POS billing on Store OS across 30+ stores |
Orders | Store and online orders managed separately | One order system (Fynd OMS) for stores and online |
Inventory | Spread across tools | Stores, e-com warehouse, and offline warehouse on one platform |
Loyalty | Standalone loyalty system | Omnichannel earn and burn with Nector on Fynd Engage |
Shipping | Direct delivery integration | Delivery partner aggregation through Fynd Logistics |
Gift vouchers and credit notes | Tied to old systems | Issued and redeemed across all stores on Store OS |
Catalog | Manual conversion between formats | One-click conversion with Catalog Transformer |
Customer data | Split across systems | ~450,000 customers in one place |
In practice, a store team can bill, check stock, issue vouchers, place an Endless Aisle order and process a return all from the same platform. The online team works with the same inventory and orders. Cottonworld no longer needs to stitch together four tools to get a clear picture of the business.
A full-stack migration doesn’t have to be slow. With careful planning and a platform designed to support the entire business, Cottonworld moved 30+ stores, 2 warehouses, and its online business in a single night and opened the next morning with billing running smoothly.
For fashion brands considering a similar move, the lesson is clear: when stores, orders, warehouses, shipping and loyalty all live on one platform, there’s far less to piece together later.
